The Paintings

TIPS FOR VIEWING

George Stefanski, known primarily as a portrait artist, has taken a departure to give us some paintings in
a quite different style. Looking at Stefanski's paintings is like looking at those children's games where
you search for the animals hidden in the picture. Stefanski, however, is much more demanding. Each of
his paintings combine seemingly unrelated elements for you to react to or to create your own story.

Once that happens, he asks you to shift your awareness from the elements to the empty space all around them.
Focus on the empty space. If you can see the stillness of space, feel the absence of movement, and see the
elements in a new way then the journey is complete.

What began as juxtaposed confusion has turned into a hallelujah chorus of awareness and understanding.
